An adventure in Indonesia

Holidays are often an exciting time as we either just appreciate a change of routine, enjoy some ‘down’ time or participate in some exciting adventure. Next week, for two Year 10 students, an exciting adventure begins. Nicola Ceccato and Amy Jobson are two of the four senior Indonesian Language students. They are taking the opportunity to spend their holidays in Indonesia with Mrs Anderson and their parents, Shane Ceccato and Tania Jobson. This trip will be a life-changing experience in many ways, as they get to see first hand the many cultural aspects of Indonesia they
have just read about. They will also spend a number of days in a language school practising and developing their growing skills. [“What......do we have to go to classes during the holidays?”]

As part of the trip, we will visit our partner school for several days, further strengthening relationships already established and making new and lasting friendships. [“You’re kidding....we have to go to school and wear our school uniform too? I thought we were going on a holiday!”]

We are very excited to be able to also visit Irvan, our Compassion Sponsor Child, and his family and friends. Most of the time away will be spent in Yogyakarta on the island of Java, but before returning home, a couple of days will be spent in central Bali. Here we will be able to appreciate the diversity of Indonesian culture, noting the difference between Hindu Bali and Islamic Yogyakarta. Riding our way down through remote Balinese villages will be an exhilarating way to ‘cap off’ and exciting adventure! We are looking forward to sharing our experiences with you.
